Welcome Dinner: 6 p.m., Wed., Aug. 18, at Poly High School. This is a chance for the kids to show off what they have learned during band camp. The boosters are supplying dinner for free. Please bring a dessert, fruit and vegetarian options to share. Also, don’t forget to visit the volunteer table and to find out how you can get involved or to purchase spirit wear.
Bowling Party: 4-8 p.m., Aug. 19, Arlington Lanes, 7100 Arlington Ave. Cost is $10 and includes two games and shoes. Come celebrate the end of band camp, the beginning of the season. Please print and bring this flier with you to the party so we can get credit: Download Flier Here.
Coming up this Week (and Other Important Information)
Post Date: Saturday, August 14th, 2010Thanks to the students and parents who showed up today for the car wash. It was a success with a never-ending line of cars for the full four hours plus additional time. We raised more than $2,000. We will let the winner know later this week.

Let’s Make a Deal: Aug. 22. Thank you to everyone who signed up for Let’s Make a Deal. More information later this week about where and when we will meet to carpool. We still are looking for band and color guard supporters to attend. Information: letsmakeadeal@riversidepolyband.com
Recycling: We are starting a recycling program this year to raise money for the band. Please bring your aluminum cans and plastic bottles, in separate bags, to the Welcome Dinner on Aug. 18. We will also have bins at Thursday night band practices on Aug. 26, and Sept. 2, 9 and 16. Look for the red pick up parked near the ceramics building in the Poly parking lot.
Cherrydale Fundraiser: Your child should have brought home a Cherrydale packet. All money and orders are due on Aug. 31. Make check payable to Poly High School Band Booster (write your student’s name in the memo line). You can also order online at www.cherrydale.com. Please remember to write the group code: 113954.
E Scrip: Register your grocery club cards, debit or credit cards online at E scrip (www.escrip.com). It is easy to sign up and each time you use your care participating merchants to contribute a percentage of your purchase to the band, at no cost to you. Our group code is 3782583. We also have Stater Bros. scrip. If you shop at Stater Bros. buy your scrip from us. You get the face value of your purchase, our portion of the contribution comes from Stater Bros.

Mi Tortilla Fundraiser: 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 27. 3203 Mission Inn Ave, Riverside, (right across the street from the Spaghetti Factory.) You must bring the flier and present it with our order. It is available here.

WELCOME DINNER
Poly Band and Color Guard
6 p.m., Wednesday, August 18
Bring the family for a welcome/welcome back dinner following a brief performance from the band and color guard on the football field.
The boosters will provide a BBQ dinner.
This is a great time to make new friends and re-kindle old friendships. During this time you can:
- • checkout the Spirit wear,
- • purchase scrip (Stater Bros.)
- • make donation to the band
- • and most important, you can become a VOLUNTEER for the BEST band and color guard in Riverside!
Other important information:
- •Poly Band and Color Guard Bowling Party: 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, Arlington Lane, 7100 Arlington Ave. $10 for two games (includes shoes). Celebrate the end of band camp, the beginning of the season.
- • We have been booked to attend two tapings of “Let’s Make a Deal” on Sunday, Aug. 22. So far we have 21 people attending. If we get 30, we will earn $900 for the program. This is an easy and fun way to earn money for the band at no cost to you — you might even win some prizes. Send an e-mail to letsmakeadeal@riversidepolyband.com if you can to attend.
We will carpool, if possible.

Welcome 2010-2011 Poly Band Families!
Post Date: Sunday, June 13th, 2010Welcome to all of the new Riverside Poly Proud Heritage Band & Color Guard students and families.
The 2010-2011 season is upon us and we invite you to visit this site often. We post all band news, updates, event itineraries, and performance schedules here. Many of the posts here will also be sent to our email list. For those posts that are not emailed, they will display here in reverse chronological order.

Summer Band Camp

Week 1: August 9,10, 11, 12 and 13
Week 2: August 16, 17 and 18
Location: Poly High School
Our field show will be charted for the number of students attending camp. Those students who do not attend must serve as alternates until a spot becomes available for them.
Schedule:
8:00 am to 12:00 pm – Marching Fundamentals / Drills
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm – Lunch Break
1:00pm to 4:00 pm – Music rehearsal
Summer Marching Camp is Mandatory for all band & Color Guard members.
Outline:
- Learning and/or reviewing basic marching fundamentals.
- Learning and memorizing music & color guard routines for the field show.
- Learning drill for the field show.
- Participating in section rehearsals conducted by expert instructors.
- Participating in social activities which allow returning members and new members to become better acquainted with each other.
As you get ready for band camp please consider the weather conditions. Dress sensibly and come prepared.
- Eat a good, balanced breakfast
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and comfortable shoes. (No sandals or boots.)
- Bring a hat.
- Bring sunglasses.
- Most importantly, bring and drink lots of water.
Additional items to remember:
- Your instrument.
- Your music.
- A pencil.
- A desire to work and learn.
- Enthusiasm!
