Post Date: Monday, August 17th, 2009Poly Band and Color Guard Potluck Dinner, 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009
Bring the family for a potluck dinner following a brief performance from the band and color guard. Eating utensils and plates will be provided. Please bring your food in a disposable container or please mark your name on your dishes. Please bring enough for eight to 10 people.
If your last name begins with:
- A-K bring the a main dish, salad, canned soda and bottled water
- L-Z bring a main dish, dessert, canned soda and bottled water
Leftover soda and water will be used for the kids during marching season, so feel free to bring extra to be used throughout the year.
On another note, don’t forget that the Cherrydale fund-raiser orders are due on Aug. 28.

Welcome Poly Band Members & Families!
Post Date: Wednesday, June 17th, 2009Welcome to the new Riverside Poly Proud Heritage Band & Color Guard website. With the new 2009-2010 season upon us we hope you will visit this site often and use it to keep current on band information.
Our goal is for the site to assist you in finding the information you need including booster names, student & band leader names, fundraising info, FAQs and schedule info. Throughout the year we will post videos, photos from the new Poly Band flickr account, and more.
If you need help with the site, try the FAQ page under the website help questions, or contact us.
That’s about it for now. Freshman band camp is coming up so have fun and watch for more updates!

Summer Band Camp
Post Date: Thursday, June 11th, 2009Location: Poly High School
Our field show will be charted for the number of students attending camp. Those students who do not attend must serve as alternates until a spot becomes available for them.
Schedule:
8:00 am to 12:00 pm – Marching Fundamentals / Drills
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm – Lunch Break
1:00pm to 4:00 pm – Music rehearsal
Summer Marching Camp is Mandatory for all band & Color Guard members.
Outline:
- Learning and/or reviewing basic marching fundamentals.
- Learning and memorizing music & color guard routines for the field show.
- Learning drill for the field show.
- Participating in section rehearsals conducted by expert instructors.
- Participating in social activities which allow returning members and new members to become better acquainted with each other.
As you get ready for band camp please consider the weather conditions. Dress sensibly and come prepared.
- Eat a good, balanced breakfast
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and comfortable shoes. (No sandals or boots.)
- Bring a hat.
- Bring sunglasses.
- Most importantly, bring and drink lots of water.
Additional items to remember:
- Your instrument.
- Your music.
- A pencil.
- A desire to work and learn.
- Enthusiasm!
