I want to take a moment to personally thank everyone who made Band Extravaganza so successful. If you did not get a chance to go to this event, you missed a tremendous performance by all of the bands. All of the middle schools performed together and then the high schools showcased this year’s field shows. It was truly a night to remember. The sky was clear and the night was warm. Take a moment to congratulate all the kids for they did an amazing job as always.

We only get one chance every five years to host Band Extravaganza. This year was super successful. We raised more than $2,500 and we’re still counting!! Just to put it in perspective we were told to not expect more than $600 in sales at the concession stand and we did more than $1,200. Ticket sales were higher than last time by 75 percent and other sales were also more successful.

None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts of the volunteers. We had more than enough hands on deck to handle the concessions, sales and (most importantly) getting the props on to the field. Besides the parent/sibling/friend volunteers we also had a contingent from Poly’s Key Club. This group of students proved to be most helpful in all of the areas they were assigned. They all seemed to have a great time. We will share this with their adviser as well.

Hopefully, you all were able to attend Homecoming this weekend. Our kids, one and all, were smashing as princes and princesses as well as wonderful in their performances both in the parade and in the stands at the game. With a decisive victory to end our day it was one of the more memorable events we’ve had in recent memory. Thank you to all who helped assemble the tables for the carnival and to everyone who got our kids to the game dressed and ready to roll.

That’s it for now. Just know that I for one could not be happier with or more proud of the families and friends who have come forward to make this year possible. We’re heading into the height of our competition season and Proud Heritage is ready to roll into town and take over.

Thank you once again. I’m looking forward to working with you all really soon.

Regards,
Fred Suplee, President
