We have several things going on this week.
Volunteer Thank You — On Wednesday, Dec. 14, Sandi AhSue will graciously host a party for all the parents and family members who volunteered during the marching season. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and the address is 5761 Argyle Way. Spouses are invited as well. Please bring a dish or deserts to share. Beverages will be provided. (No alcohol please.)
Winter Concert — The winter concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Littleworth Theater. Cost to attend is $5 per person. We will also have our silent auction, so come prepared to make some bids and get some great deals.
Mr. Mooring wanted us to pass along to important information as well.
First, recently, there has been increase in the number of low brass instruments being stolen in the Southern California area. Although Poly High School students have not been targeted, it is important to remind your child to take his or her instrument home on the weekends and during the holidays.
Second, there is a new organization geared toward parents who want to support music programs. The mission of the National Association of Music Parents (AMP), a non-profit organization, is to build a grassroots national movement that will engage and empower parents to take ownership of their children’s complete education, including the arts. The group’s first leadership conference will take place in Anaheim in January. It is reasonably priced is a chance to attend sessions on funding, motivation and advocacy, as well as the opportunity to network with other booster clubs from throughout the country.
